The Road to 40: Week 7 update (Happy Masters week!)
Happy Friday—and happy Masters week! One of the best weeks in golf. I caught some of the Par 3 Contest, and while ESPN certainly tried to “enhance” the experience… let’s just say it missed the mark. The Masters is special because of its tradition and history. It doesn’t need extras—just more moments with the players and their families. And definitely more Frankie Fleetwood. I’m already looking forward to the day he clears the water on the ninth hole of the Par 3 course. Now

The Road to 40: Week 6 update
This will be a shorter update, but I wanted to make sure I shared something for the week. Over the past six weeks, there have been moments when I’ve questioned whether this challenge is something I can actually complete, and this week was no exception. Lately, it’s felt like one step forward and two steps back. My short game and putting have been strong, but my full swing has been a real struggle. On Monday, I went to the driving range to hit off grass and couldn’t stop p

The Road to 40: Week 5 update
Yet another eventful week on the road to 40. I managed to sneak in 9 holes last Friday and, surprisingly, it wasn’t a total disaster. My tee shots were an adventure—tops, chunks, pulls, slices… if there was a wrong way to hit it, I found it. The rest of my game held up better than expected. My chipping wasn’t too bad, and I was able to rely on my putting to keep things together. Despite the chaos off the tee, I still hit 3 of 4 fairways, though only 2 of 9 greens in regulat

The Road to 40: Week 4 update
What a week! I’m especially grateful for the time change — and one of the perks of living in Arizona is that we don’t have to adjust our schedules. Being three hours behind Eastern Time this time of year means longer daylight in the evenings, which translates to more practice time. I’m loving it. This week, I continued working on dialing in my distances from 100 yards and in. Monday’s practice was focused on wedge control and understanding my swing lengths — quarter, half,

The Road to 40: Week 3 update
I’m starting to think the golf gods might be pushing back a bit on the goal I’ve set for myself. After a few cold and rainy days, my practice week was cut short, and I only managed to get out three days. I’ve continued to focus most of my work on shots from 100 yards and in, and that’s where the bulk of my practice has been. Lately, I’ve been working on adding a bit more spin to my wedges—especially from 20–40 yards—to help the ball stop faster on the green. I’m happy to

The Road to 40: Week 2
Just two weeks in, and this journey is already proving to be a challenge. If you’ve read my earlier updates, you know what I’m trying to accomplish—on top of managing a full-time job. This week, work definitely took priority. In hindsight, I should have anticipated how demanding this week would be and planned accordingly. I’m a Project Manager, and a major project I’ve been working on for the past four months officially launched on Tuesday. That meant early mornings—logging o
