Matt Fitzpatrick - King of Brookline

My #8 moment of 2022 features Matt Fitzpatrick and his great win at the US Open. A cool stat from this tournament is that Matt became only the second person to win a US Amateur title and a US Open title on the same golf course. In 2013, Matt won the US Amateur at Brookline Country Club and would beat out Scottie Scheffler and Will Zalatoris to become the US Open champ on the same course.

If that isn't a cool enough storyline for you, think about the shot from the fairway bunker on 18. Horrible tee shot, not a great lie and having to aim miles left and just hit and hope he gets a decent cut on the shot…and boy, did he.

His putter was pretty on fire as well, sinking a 50 foot putt for birdie and another 19-foot birdie a couple holes later.

What a tournament for Matt Fitzpatrick and can't wait to see him take home another major…hopefully in 2023.
